Better late than never...

A slice of my inner Bard
Bloggie friends!
What was my most unusual and surprising birthday pressie?
A pineapple slicer! Yay! From my sister who swears it works!
In the meantime - I saw this "Paws for Poetry" competition in Writer's Magazine! Yes, bloggie friends!! Permission for me to release my inner Bard and wax poetically about Charlie! Yay!
Charlie says: I applaud your poetry so long as it's about me!
p.s. my birthday was in July so the cake (also from my sister!) pictured with the slicer has long been consumed! Yay!

Bouncy planets
Thank you all so much for my best wishes!!! You are all beautiful stars! May only good things and happy events shower you all!
For my birthday I treated myself to a proper re-style haircut.
Nine inches were cut off and strands layered, head massaged and green tea sipped. Ahem.
Oh but I felt like a movie star when I left the salon with hair all blow dried, silky smooth, shiny and ever so bouncy!
Unfortunately like all good things - such gorgeousness came to an end the day after when my hair reverted to its normal flat as a pancake dull lustre!
Charlie says: Wheeeeeee!
Neptune - the planet - turned one whole Neptunian year yesterday. That’s 164.79 Earth years to you and me since its discovery in 1846.
I thought I’d just share that!

Daffs

Today is not only Friday but it’s also my sister’s birthday (she who lives in Aussieland!).
She’s a full blooded Aries woman – passionate, passionate, passionate! And very creative!!! And yes slightly crazy - but then she's my sister and I grew up with her and I have memories that I constantly bribe her with!! LOL!

Victory!

I’ve scored a small silent victory so excuse me if I go “whhhoooppeee!”
LOL!!
My boss has decided to hold our annual “Team Bonding, We Love Each Other Really” Day on MY BIRTHDAY in July.
All leave for that day cancelled.
I said, “Not on your life, missy”!
Well NO, I didn’t - but I stood my ground and refused to cancel my leave. Ahem.
Now it’s been decided that we shall bond with each other the day AFTER my birthday.
No one and nothing should come between a Gal and Her Birthday!
Charlie: No-one comes between me and my string!
Spring - wherefore art thou?
Thoughts and prayers to bloggie friends in New Zealand.

Friday frivolities

Today is my other sister’s birthday (yes, I have more than one! LOL!) and of course I’m running late and am posting her card NOW so she’ll receive it tomorrow!
To compensate, I’ve composed a little ditty for her (to be sung in the tune of Happy Birthday)! Ahem.

The End of Audley
Thank you all so much for my birthday wishes! Yes I am older and none the wiser but happier to have such lovely bloggie friends!
So what did I do? Well yesterday I recuperated from sunburn because on Saturday I decided to visit Audley End House - a stately Jacobean home built around the 17th century and fully restored along with its gardens and stables.
Unfortunately without a car and a very long queue for taxis at Audley End rail station, I resorted to walking the 1 and 3 quarters mile to the house.
Here is the helpful sign for those going by car.
I took this photo standing on the pavement earmarked specially for those walking to the house.
Yes the footpath was along this busy road!
But look what greeted me after 40 minutes walking in 30 degree centigrade heat.
Was it worth it? OH YES!
Charlie says: I hope you stopped frequently to roll around like so!
