Yes to Yen!

Bloggie friends!

Never leave home without a pen! Not only are they handy for scribbling down conversations verbatim like I am wont to do, they’re ever so handy for completing the Evening Standard quick crossword!

Especially whilst stuck on a non-moving packed train held immobile on the middle of the track due to “line congestion”.

Oh and while the train didn’t move, the engine was turned off and so was the heating - on the first proper frosty and icy day of the month.

The clue: Three letters for “longing”.

The answer: Yen.

As in “To have a yen for”. Ahem.

Charlie says: I yen to be next door.

Have a superb weekend everyone!

As someone who commutes daily via public transit, you have my deepest sympathies. That's one of those "transit from hell" episodes I sometimes post. Poor you!

Big smooches to Charlie; where is our update about his health?!?

Oh no, did that happen to you? I hope you had your pen AND your crossword, and a nice warm coat as well.

Bless your heart! I can't believe they left you all without heat! That's just inconsiderate. *angry face*

Love Charlie's little house. Kitty Boss has a green one and she never used it until Roo came along. Rivalry!

Have a great weekend!

ah this reminds me of a time some random dude took over my friend and I's sudoku on the train - we did not know what to say and then he gave it back after "solving it for us"

You are so clever! My Jen is witty, too, but I think you have her beat. She says that's true!!

It is awful to be stuck on a non-moving train without heat! I am SO not looking forward to cold weather. It hasn't yet hit us here in Virginia USA; it is still in the high 40s and 50s, but there's that chill in the air.

I would be honored to have you read some of my writing. I thought I was about ready for Smashwords, then I remembered a novella that works perfectly with the other one I just finished editing. So I will work on this quickly because I'm anxious to share them with you.

As always, Jen says Hi to you and Charlie!

Hmmm, my train has stopped for "congestion" three times this past week. The average half an hour late home.
So sympathies.

Old Kittie,
I've never had to ride public transportation. You don't when you live in Hicksville. But it always felt exciting when I used to visit London. Probably gets real tired when it's day after day..... just like slipp'n and slid'n on ice is all winter in this West.
Wonderful day to you and your super intelligent Charlie.... xo xo

Well that stinks, to be stuck on the train especially with no heat. Hope it wasn't for too long.

How awful! I would have a yen for the heater to be turned back on... and the train to start moving again!

Jen - you have my admiration I have to admit I feel so silly but I feel so claustrophobic on the underground I sometimes have to get off. Probably its fortunate that I don't live near London!
I would much prefer to squeeze in Charlie's cube with him.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Howdy,
I usually carry a pen and paper. However, when it comes to British crosswords, well yikes! 'The rubber circles that make your car move' That's easy! 'tire' What, that's wrong! oh 'tyre'. 'The edge at the side of a road', That's easy! 'curb'
What, that's wrong! 'kerb'..Help! lol
And 'yen', I thought that was Japanese currency. To 'coin a phrase'.
Have a good weekend.
Gary :-)

I never leave home without a small tablet and a pen in my purse. Every time I forget, I get an awesome idea and am screwed!

Ahhh, love your kitty pictures. I am an avid cat lover who has no kities at the moment...but that is first and foremost on my Christmas list.

Oh crikeys! When I was younger, I took the public bus to work every day and buried my nose in a book so I didn't have to try to avoid eye contact with anyone, lol. I hate getting stuck somewhere without a pen, especially since I am not nearly as Dangerous Without a Pen! >:( hehe!

Oh... I also had such bad public transport week... all of last week.

My sympathies, Jenn... and put that pen in your bag right now!

fairyhedgehog said...

That's not nice for you! I hope you got properly warmed up when you got home.

BRRRR! What a day for the train to misfunction. Grr to London transport - seriously.

Charlie looks lovely and warm! Keep snuggled up this freezing weekend.

Theresa Milstein said...

I hope the heavens heard and the train was moving in no time, preferably with a little heat.

My father is a big crossword puzzle solver. I'm terrible. It sounds like you've got a knack for it.

I like Charlie's hideout.

No. No. No. Always carry several pens, so if you lose or lend one, there is another!

I never leave home without a pen. :)

I miss doing crosswords. When I'm stuck in traffic, I read from my phone.

I love that picture of Charlie in his little house! :)

Did you have a seat? All important when a rotten delay occurs. There is a tube strike tomorrow as well, what a wonderful way to start Monday! Bah. ;)

If I am out, and reach for a pen and realize I've forgotten it, I almost go into a panic. It was like twenty years ago (when I quit)and I realized I was out of cigarettes at whereever.

I DON'T have a yen to be stuck on a train like that!! Yikes. At least you had the pen and the crossword! :)

Hi Old Kitty,
You're right! I never leave home without a pen or pens. I have to. I need them for class. Oh, and do I know about using public transportation. Although it's good for the environment and my pocket, I hate dealing with some rude people on it. ;)
