A temporary truce...

... between Charlie and  Gumtree! And yes those are bits of their fur on the carpet as this was taken after a most vigorous knockabout-play-fight-play that they both won of course! :-)

Bloggie friends!!!

This writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days is bizarre but it's taught me two things:

1) I'm literally and metaphorically writing rubbish just to get to the word count! LOL!
2) I miss blogging! I miss you all!!!

See you at the finishing line!
p.s. Gum-Gum goes for his "little operation" this Thursday so please wish him luck!
:-)

Somebody's short a little fur!
You're so close to the end of NaNo. And we have missed you so much.
Will be praying for Gumtree on Thursday. It will be all right.

We miss you and Charlie too. Your post is funny. Enjoy those two kittens!

Gumtree should be fine for his operation. It's just a simple snip and doesn't take long. Charlie looks like he's just waiting for Gumtree to make a mistake so he can pounce on him.

Cathy Olliffe-Webster said...

That oughta slow down the Gummer... Hey! Good on you for doing so well with Nano! It's a LOT of hard work, eh?

good luck gum-gum!

And good luck with your writing too!

Good luck Gum-Gum!

And more power to you for being so close to the finish line and having the discipline to take on such a tough challenge. And I'm willing to bet that you're writing more than rubbish, maybe even some passages that are very good indeed. Now onward to victory!

Good luck, Gumtree!

And to you, Kitty for your NaNo project.

Aw, sweet kitties!

How's your word count doing? I'm finding I'm writing stuff I'd never have thought of without the word count pressure. I've had fun and I've also given up at least once but I'm still hanging in there.

See you at the finishing line!

Teresa Ashby said...

Ooh good luck Gumtree for Thursday!

Writing rubbish is better than writing nothing - at least you can knock rubbish into shape - although I bet it's a lot better than you think it is :-) x

Hi Old Kitty - well done on persevering with NaNo .. and good luck Gumtree - one snip, one bad night and you'll be fine 'me boy'!!

Cheers Hilary

Hilary said...

Good luck! you can do it... and if you can't no reason you cant spread it out until Dec...

Fuzzy Tales said...

Purrs for Gumtree's snipping and that maybe, just maybe, it will calm him down somewhat. (Not the case for Nicki, he came neutered and bratty--lol.)

Good luck finishing up the novel. I think you deserve a HUGE pat on the back for even doing it!

Tamago said...

Sounds like Charlie and Gumtree are having fun with fur flying! Nano thing seems tough but hope you are enjoying!
We wish good luck to Gumtree for his operation. Hoping it will go smoothly and he will recover soon!

Hannah and Lucy said...

We hope you hit your word target and do well Jenn - you deserve it. May be when the little one has had his vet visit (ouchie) it will help settle things between Charlie and him - Charlie might be jealous as he's the only one with something missing!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

Best of luck on Thursday...you know we've been there before...times 10. haha. Hope all goes well. Charlie will be there to aide in the recuperation. :)

Jennifer Shirk said...

LOL! I think that is the point of NaNo: to write rubbish and just get the word count in.

Aw! Keep at it though. You'll be at your goal in no time!

LOL! Aww, poor Gum Gum... *giggle* Well, maybe that'll cut down on all the tussling.

Hey! GREAT work with Nano! You're doing it, and it can always be revised~ :o) <3

Manzanita said...

Well, changes do come in bunches. I'm back (I think) and I had to go back in your posts to find out you adopted another cat. AND that you are writing a novel in a month. Yipes. My change is that I now have a cat too (and of course still have Cody). I was living at the ranch all summer and I got 2 old shelter cats for the barn. My kids were having a screaming meme (whatever that is) and wouldn't let me live there alone in the winter. So I moved to town for the winter. Cody and the big healthy cat fought like cats and dogs Ha.... so I took the fat cat back. He's very adoptable. I kept the sickly old toothless bag-of-bones cat who wouldn't even come near me. I studied cat nutrition, bought a bazillion supplements and a meat grinder and raw chicken and animal organs. Now, after a couple months of good food, this is the sweetest, most beautiful and affectionate little cat. She and Cody tolerate each other.
Didn't mean to write an epistle but I got carried away. Good luck with your novel and new little Gum Gum and Charlie.
Love from Manzi

Operation as in "snip snip, quality of life as a free ranging kitty will never be the same again" operation? Poor Gum-Gum!

KarenMcG said...

Awww, they look so sweet. You expect us to believe those bits of fur are the results of a knockabout? Hogwash!

Having three (and at one time) six of our own, I completely understand the sometimes disagreements.

Good luck, Gumtree.

And, Jennifer, way to go with 50,000!

Keeping Gumtree in our purrs.
And we are glad about the truce
also good luck with the word count.

Theresa Milstein said...

Miss you too!

I'd only be able to write rubbish if I wrote 50k in 30 days, but it's malleable rubbish, right? And I bet it's not so rubbish-y.

The end is in sight. GoGoGo!

Good luck to both Gumtree and you too! I love the way, Gumtree's ears are back as if he's listening carefully, in case Charlie comes sneaking up!

NaNo is like being in high school all over again. I used to use A LOT of filler words just to meet the 2000 word requirement for term papers. :D

Ellen Whyte said...

LOL, nice ot see the kitties having fun. I gave up on NaNo because I've written one novelette since the first of the month and am now half way through writing two others. Should be done in 10 days time. Where can we see your work? I'll tell you when mine's up on Amazon.

We miss you too! And I'm glad the cats are able to share the same house.

I think that's the idea-- just write rubbish to get to the word count! Good luck, I admire anyone who does this challenge!

We miss you too but good for you to do all that writing. Wish I had that discipline to do that.
Sending tons of purrs to that Gumtree for his little operation. Charlie, are you having trouble keeping that brat in line?? Just let us know and we will be right over. Take care and good luck to the Mum too.

Congratulations on your short story publication - I've only just noticed it on your sidebar!

Boys will be boys, and fur will fly. LOL. I hope Gumtree's operation goes well.

As for NaNoWriMo, I'm also missing the blogging world. Why can't there be more hours in the day?

My daughter has three cats and although thye've grown up together they still fight occasionally! I think they enjoy the rumble ...lol

Good luck with your novel! Writing is good exercise no matter what the outcome.

My cat Bo hasn't been feeling well lately I have a feeling he is developing diabetes as he is suddenly drinking and urinating a lot. He has a vet appointment coming up so we will find out soon. Please send good kitty thoughts his way! He is 15 + years old and I hope he'll live many more years. Thanks!

LOL. That is so true. It really is about word count, and chances are it'll be all revised anyway. But at least the bare bones are down.
We miss you, but good for you in being so productive! :D

Good luck to Gumtree!

Wow, they look very determined...

Happy writing! I always write rubbish on the first draft, regardless of how much time I have!

A truce is a good thing, but it looks like Charlie is keeping an eye on Gumtree. One never knows who will break the truce first.
Good luck to Gumtree! Operations are not much fun, even if they are "little."

mshatch said...

Well I am glad they both think they won. No egos shattered or bruised. I do wish my new black cat was as accommodating. Or that the other cats would tell him to take a hike!

Good luck to Gum-Gum on Thursday. Maybe it will calm him down a little after a while. Congratulations on keeping up your word count. Only a few more days to go, then you can look it over and lick it into shape.

Yay for the truce! Keep writing rubbish although I 'refuse', get it, refuse to believe you actually write rubbish.

What's this? You haven't been blogging much? :)

Take care, eh
