Slowly and steadily

Bloggie friends!

Heeeere’s Charlie!!

Pic taken yesterday (17 June), six days after his dental surgery, minus three teeth!

Apparently he was “very grumpy” at the vet’s! Yay!

Thank you all so much for sending purrs and healing hugs!

You – especially lovely Kim of Fuzzy Tales and gorgeous Theresa Milstein – ROCK!

We’re not quite out of the woods yet.

The vets are testing Charlie for the “calici-virus” (a type of cat-flu) even as he is up to date with all his vaccinations and boosters. These only suppress certain viral strains of cat flu, not all. I won’t know the result for another 18 days.

So to keep my mind positive, I have been writing like crazy and have re-written 10,897 words of my current manuscript - one I started in 2006! Yikes!

I swear, in a previous life I was a giant tortoise. Or a sloth! But these fabulous creatures always got to wherever they needed to go to in the end, didn’t they? :-) Slowly and steadily. Like Charlie's recuperation!

Have a great week, everyone!

p.s. Happy Father's Day to all dads!

Well Charlie is looking as cute as ever. Even when slightly grumpy. I hope he feels better soon and the problem is nothing major. My cat was sick a lot but it turned out she just had a sensitive stomach. One food change later and she's right as rain :)

Sweet Charlie!!! Sending love to you. I hope all goes well with the test results. Paws crossed! Enjoy that comfy bed and take it easy!

And it seems you inspired your Mom to writing heights! :) xo

Best wishes to Charlie. My pup had minor surgery a week ago. He sulked for a day and then he was back digging up the garden!

I will be saying great prayers for Charlie and you. I know he and you, both, are glad he is finally home to recuperate.

He will do much better in familiar surroundings and your love, Roland

Good job Charlie, hope you continue to heal well and the vet finds no nasty viruses.

Rewriting that many word sounds like a lot of work! More than I would want to tackle that's for certain. Good luck!

It's good to see Charlie!

Hope the results come back negative for the virus.

Hooray for writing progress. :) 10k is still quite a lot of words!

Good news about the dental! And I hope good news soon about the calci virus. That is a long time to wait but we know that's what you have to do. . . .

AWWW!!! Charlie look at you laying there with 3 less teeth. It's ok, those were the naughty teeth, and with them being gone you'll be doing better very soon.

We are praying and sending purrs for your quick recovery. ♥♥♥

Nothing like a little catnip to take away the grumpiness. And a pizza. Good luck Charlie and get back on track soon!

Poor Charlie! Man, a cat with dental pain must not be a happy feline at all.

I just took my Tiger to get neutered and he wasn't too happy with that decision either.

Hope Charlie gets well soon. Poor kitty.

Brigid O'Connor said...

So pleased Charlie got through his dental work and is ok, fingers crossed for the flu virus being negative. Lots of luck with the writing:)

Helena said...

I hope Charlie leaps back to perfect health in no time. He won't miss the three teeth so much (my cat doesn't seem to miss hers), but I've got my fingers crossed for 18 days that he doesn't have any complications.

Good for you that you're channeling your worry into writing. That's what keeps us crazy writers semi-sane, after all.

And Charlie is pretty much behaving himself if he's merely grumpy. I had to take my cat in yesterday just to get her nails trimmed, and I swear little kitty witty flipped me the bird, she was so put out.

The Furries of Whisppy said...

We'll continue to keep dear Charlie in our prayers and keep sending him our loudest purrs that the vets figure out what's bothering him. And yeay that his dental work went well, uh, minus three teeth. :)

poor charlie, of course he'd be grumpy after al that, here's to his recovery:) Keeping rocking with that ms! Have a good week Old Kitty:)

Oh, I'm so happy to see Charlie back. He looks a bit tired! I hope he's okay. Keep us posted about the test results.

Nearly 11k on your manuscript--well done! Your small pieces shine, so I can only imagine a long one. Good luck with the rest of it.

Yes, slow and steady. Onward and upward!

Marg said...

Oh Charley, we sure are sending you tons and tons of purrs to get all better. We sure hope that test comes back negative for that awful virus. The donkeys are crossing their paws for you too. We know you will get all better really soon. Take care.

Get well soon, Charlie! xx

Oh, poor, Charlie. He's allowed to be grumpy. Hope he's ok.

I'm a slow writer too, which is why I took that fast draft course. It really did help. But I think it takes practice to get quicker.

Fuzzy Tales said...

Lots of healing vibes and purrs for Charlie.

I know I don't have a lot of cat experience, but I've actually never heard of an adult cat having a problem with calici. It's normally young kittens, and it can take them quickly.

Kudos for all your writing! Maybe worry brings out your Muse. LOL.

SO glad to hear Charlie's recovering, and I do hope he doesn't have any kitty flu. Scratches to him for me! :o)

As for the "sloth" comment--NOT! I just finished a MS in April I'd started in 2010-! and now I'm looking at another I was working on in early 2011. Sometimes it's just that way. Slow and steady wins the race! <3

I'm so sorry to hear about what's going on with Charlie! Poor sweetie. Glad he is on the mend and I will be wishing, hoping, and praying that you get some very good news. Hugs to you and Charlie!

I hope Charlie is feeling better - our poor dog is slowly recovering (I hope) from a horrible ear infection. He's lost so much weight!!! But YAY for you for over 10,000 words - say can you send that "infection" my way???

Jay Paoloni said...

You know the story of the hare and the tortoise, don't you? Philosophically speaking, it is impossible for the hare to ever reach the tortoise. The space between the two of them, as it can be divided ad infinitum, is consequently infinite. So the hare will never reach, and much less will it pass the tortoise.

So, be the tortoise!

Glad Charlie feels better.
I'd be pissed at the vet!

Charlie, we heard you have had big dentals and are now going to have the rest of your teeth removed.

I (Gerry)had calici virus and had to have all my teef removed and it was the best thing that happened ever because my mouth was a sore old train wreck back then. I take Interferon (Virbagen Omega) every four days and a viral swab the vet took in March showed that the Interferon had completely removed the Calici Virus from my system over the 3 years I have been taking it on a gradually reducing dose. It doesn't taste of much so I don't mind taking the 1ml dose and I get a nice bowl of cat milk after.

We are sending you big rumbly, gum healing purrs and lots of love for your big surgery.

Luff from Gerry
(& Oliver & Mungo)
