Bloggie friends!
Heeeere’s Charlie!!
Pic taken yesterday (17 June), six days after his dental surgery, minus three teeth!
Apparently he was “very grumpy” at the vet’s! Yay!
Thank you all so much for sending purrs and healing hugs!
You – especially lovely Kim of Fuzzy Tales and gorgeous Theresa Milstein – ROCK!
We’re not quite out of the woods yet.
We’re not quite out of the woods yet.
The vets are testing Charlie for the “calici-virus” (a type of cat-flu) even as he is up to date with all his vaccinations and boosters. These only suppress certain viral strains of cat flu, not all. I won’t know the result for another 18 days.
So to keep my mind positive, I have been writing like crazy and have re-written 10,897 words of my current manuscript - one I started in 2006! Yikes!
I swear, in a previous life I was a giant tortoise. Or a sloth! But these fabulous creatures always got to wherever they needed to go to in the end, didn’t they? :-) Slowly and steadily. Like Charlie's recuperation!
Have a great week, everyone!

Well Charlie is looking as cute as ever. Even when slightly grumpy. I hope he feels better soon and the problem is nothing major. My cat was sick a lot but it turned out she just had a sensitive stomach. One food change later and she's right as rain :)
Sweet Charlie!!! Sending love to you. I hope all goes well with the test results. Paws crossed! Enjoy that comfy bed and take it easy!
And it seems you inspired your Mom to writing heights! :) xo
Charlie will be fine. Just keep telling yourself that!
Best wishes to Charlie. My pup had minor surgery a week ago. He sulked for a day and then he was back digging up the garden!
I will be saying great prayers for Charlie and you. I know he and you, both, are glad he is finally home to recuperate.
He will do much better in familiar surroundings and your love, Roland
Good job Charlie, hope you continue to heal well and the vet finds no nasty viruses.
Rewriting that many word sounds like a lot of work! More than I would want to tackle that's for certain. Good luck!
We send you many purrs handsome Charlie and I hope all of your tests are just fine! Let us know please!
It's good to see Charlie!
Hope the results come back negative for the virus.
Hooray for writing progress. :) 10k is still quite a lot of words!
Good news about the dental! And I hope good news soon about the calci virus. That is a long time to wait but we know that's what you have to do. . . .
Charlie darling..hang in there sweet boy. It will all be over and I hope the diagnosis is something that can be cured easily.
You are very beautiful by the way.
So glad Charlie came through with flying colors!
Hope everything goes well with your ms. Love the giant tortoise analogy. We happen to like.."all good things come to those who take their old sweet time..:)"
Have a good week!
Tom, Mom Julie & the critters xx
Hope he's feeling real better, real soon. It's not fun being sick, I think. Not fun at all. purrs
Poor old Charlie! We're sending our purrs and hope he can manage his treats minus the 3 teeth. 18 days is a long wait but don't despair, Charlie is one tough man-cat. We know he'll be Aok soon.
I am very pleased to hear that Charlie is doing well :)
Sending lots of healing purrs to you, Charlie, and paw-pushes and nudges to your mom. :)
good luck to charlie, I'm hoping he's alright
Charlie glad to hear that you are recovering well.
xo your california friends
AWWW!!! Charlie look at you laying there with 3 less teeth. It's ok, those were the naughty teeth, and with them being gone you'll be doing better very soon.
We are praying and sending purrs for your quick recovery. ♥♥♥
Nothing like a little catnip to take away the grumpiness. And a pizza. Good luck Charlie and get back on track soon!
Poor Charlie! Man, a cat with dental pain must not be a happy feline at all.
I just took my Tiger to get neutered and he wasn't too happy with that decision either.
Hope Charlie gets well soon. Poor kitty.
So pleased Charlie got through his dental work and is ok, fingers crossed for the flu virus being negative. Lots of luck with the writing:)
I hope Charlie leaps back to perfect health in no time. He won't miss the three teeth so much (my cat doesn't seem to miss hers), but I've got my fingers crossed for 18 days that he doesn't have any complications.
Good for you that you're channeling your worry into writing. That's what keeps us crazy writers semi-sane, after all.
And Charlie is pretty much behaving himself if he's merely grumpy. I had to take my cat in yesterday just to get her nails trimmed, and I swear little kitty witty flipped me the bird, she was so put out.
We'll continue to keep dear Charlie in our prayers and keep sending him our loudest purrs that the vets figure out what's bothering him. And yeay that his dental work went well, uh, minus three teeth. :)
poor charlie, of course he'd be grumpy after al that, here's to his recovery:) Keeping rocking with that ms! Have a good week Old Kitty:)
Oh, I'm so happy to see Charlie back. He looks a bit tired! I hope he's okay. Keep us posted about the test results.
Nearly 11k on your manuscript--well done! Your small pieces shine, so I can only imagine a long one. Good luck with the rest of it.
Yes, slow and steady. Onward and upward!
Oh Charley, we sure are sending you tons and tons of purrs to get all better. We sure hope that test comes back negative for that awful virus. The donkeys are crossing their paws for you too. We know you will get all better really soon. Take care.
Get well soon, Charlie! xx
Oh, poor, Charlie. He's allowed to be grumpy. Hope he's ok.
I'm a slow writer too, which is why I took that fast draft course. It really did help. But I think it takes practice to get quicker.
Lots of healing vibes and purrs for Charlie.
I know I don't have a lot of cat experience, but I've actually never heard of an adult cat having a problem with calici. It's normally young kittens, and it can take them quickly.

Kudos for all your writing! Maybe worry brings out your Muse. LOL.
Hi Charlie! I hope you're doing better and that you don't have that yucky virus. Take care my friend!
Charlie - thank goodness you took our advice and are milking the sympathy for all it is worth. Keep it going for at least another 2 weeks and don't forget to wince when eating the smallest morsel.
Jenn hope you are happy with your epic re-write when it's finished.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
So glad Charlie made it through everything okay - I was thinking about you two!
Lovely Charlie - hope those tests all come back clear. It's a horrible long time to wait for the results isn't it. Sending lots of positive thoughts and wishes xx
Hope you and Charlie have a great week, too. I, too, am a turtle at writing. Would love to be a bunny. Sigh.
Oh, I hope Charlie continues to heal and NO FLU comes anywhere near!
And I, too, have tortoise tendencies, but they definitely always get there in the end, eh? you will do it!
I'm so glad Charlie is doing better. I hope he gets purr-fect soon. :)
Okay, I know, that was lame.
Hope Charlie feels better soon! <3
Glad to hear Charlie is doing better. Hope he's totally out of the woods soon.
Keep on keeping on, Charlie.
Still keeping Charlie in our thoughts that he recovers and is virus free.
Oh no! Poor Charlie but he is looking good. I am sending lots of cat hugs and kisses!!! Yes...I always say...slow and steady wins the race.
:-) Have a great week!
I feel for him. My cats get grumpy at the vet's office.
I hope Charlie is out of the woods soon. I'm wishing him the best.
Not a tortoise or a sloth, I am more like an annoying gnat. I fly over my manuscript and look at it.
Hope Charlie recovers and is back to his feisty self. (All cats are feisty.)
I'll keep Charlie in my prayers:). Glad to hear you're working diligently on your manuscript!
Glad you've got Charlie back home.
Glad he's home safe and sound. Have a nice relax Charlie.xxxx
And hope he's soon purrfectly well!
Well done on your rewrite (and sorry I clicked 'publish' before I'd finished typing)
Nothing wrong with slow and steady - you're still heading in the right direction (at least that's what I keep telling myself!) :)
Glad Charlie's home and hope he's feeling himself again soon! *hugs*
So glad to have a "mini-update" as to Charlie's progress after his dental surgery.
Glad that went relative well.
And now we're still purring and keeping paws crossed for good results on the other tests.
Fabulous news about you resurrecting your 2006 writing project.
I'm glad Charlie's home and mending.
Poor Charlie. Hope he's 100% soon.
And yay on your word count!!!! :D
Poor Charlie, I can sympathise, I had a tooth out last Thursday, its been a painful affair!
Great stuff on your word count.
Charlie we are sending you lots of smoochies.
purrs

Ow! Three teeth gone? I am glad I wasn't his dentist. I wouldn't want to deal with a cat with painful teeth!
Aw it's good to know Charlie is home once more. I hope he has a full recovery and is off chasing mice again soon.
And well done with your progress with your manuscript!! How awesome!
Hugs to Charlie.
Well done on all the rewrites!
Riya
Wow that's great! 10k! Go, you!
Poor Charlie. Give him a hug for me. :)
Hope Charlie gets to feeling better soon. Pet that pretty boy for us.
Good job on your writing productivity.
R
Nice to meet you. Charlie looks relaxed in the picture. I hope he recovers well soon.
Good to know Charlie is on the mend. I sure hope he doesn't have that cat virus. Yay for you keeping busy with writing and making great headway! I have manuscripts I've been working on longer than yours, so I guess I'm a sloth, too! It's okay, though, as long as we keep on keepin' on, right?
Here's wishing Charlie a nice, pleasant recuperation.
I reckon you might just win the race against the rabbit! :)
All the best,
Gary

I never like going to the dentist or the vets Charlie so don't blame you for being grumpy little matey.
Charlie, that isn't a good virus, positive thoughts for a NEG result, you can still live INDOORS and be safe and snug ol bean..
Take it easy and have extra fishies and TAKE YOUR PILLS...
Lots and lots of love... x x x x
Freya Rose Blossom sends her love too :-) X X X
So glad Charlie came through. What a trooper he is. Of course, being the MOM in the waiting room is rough, so you're a trooper, too.
Hope his tests come back with good news.
Oh! I hope Cahrlie will testr negative for the calici-virus! If not I hoper he can recover from it easily. We all love Charlie and want him to live many more years of fluffing his fur and laying int eh sun!
Gla dyou are busy with your writing Jen. I have been in a writing slump lately..I think I need a vacation.
Good news thus far, and good news shall continue! :) Congrats on the progress on your manuscript.
SO glad to hear Charlie's recovering, and I do hope he doesn't have any kitty flu. Scratches to him for me! :o)
As for the "sloth" comment--NOT! I just finished a MS in April I'd started in 2010-! and now I'm looking at another I was working on in early 2011. Sometimes it's just that way. Slow and steady wins the race! <3
I am sorry to be so late in checking in on Charlie! Hope he is doing much better soon!
Poor you and poor Charlie! The waiting for results is horrible! But I'm sure he'll be fine. Minus three teeth, but fine. Healing thoughts out to you and Charlie.
How's Charlie now?
Oh Charlie.. I am sorry I missed knowing about your surgery... I am glad you are on the mend.... Alex understands your grumpiness... he was the same way when he had his surgery. They told us to come get him because he "really wants to come home"....
Hugs & purrs....
Poor kitty. But so cute!
I'm so sorry to hear about what's going on with Charlie! Poor sweetie. Glad he is on the mend and I will be wishing, hoping, and praying that you get some very good news. Hugs to you and Charlie!
I hope Charlie is feeling better - our poor dog is slowly recovering (I hope) from a horrible ear infection. He's lost so much weight!!! But YAY for you for over 10,000 words - say can you send that "infection" my way???
You know the story of the hare and the tortoise, don't you? Philosophically speaking, it is impossible for the hare to ever reach the tortoise. The space between the two of them, as it can be divided ad infinitum, is consequently infinite. So the hare will never reach, and much less will it pass the tortoise.
So, be the tortoise!
Glad Charlie feels better.
I'd be pissed at the vet!
Hi OC! I love your ideas for a story for the ugly foot photo! I hope Charlie is doing much better by today.
Charlie is going to be great. He looks gorgeous! Congrats on your writing. That's awesome.
I hope Charlie is doing better- sending fairies your way.
Purring SO loud for sweet Charlie!!!
Hi Old Kitty - and more importantly Charlie .. well you're certainly looking rested - I just hope the teeth and mouth heal properly .. then those tests come back with good signs on them ..
Now it's nearly a week later - I hope all continues happily on .. good to stay inside with this weather ..
Look after yourself .. cheers Hilary
Good job on the writing-Charlie I hope all is good for you sweet boy.
Ohhhh nooooooooo!! We just read this! We can't follow closely because you don't have a "follow by email" option on your blog. Please install one!
We are praying that Charlie's tests have come back and that all is ok! xoxoxoxo
Poor Charlie, to have to endure surgery. Sounds like he is resuming his normal superiority, which all cats have in spades.
How is Charlie now? Not long until you get the test results!
I am sending my best purrs to Charlie.
Also, yes of course you may use the badge for the Olympics!

I'm really glad Charlie was OK after his surgery. Now it's fingers crossed for the test results.
Charlie, we heard you have had big dentals and are now going to have the rest of your teeth removed.
I (Gerry)had calici virus and had to have all my teef removed and it was the best thing that happened ever because my mouth was a sore old train wreck back then. I take Interferon (Virbagen Omega) every four days and a viral swab the vet took in March showed that the Interferon had completely removed the Calici Virus from my system over the 3 years I have been taking it on a gradually reducing dose. It doesn't taste of much so I don't mind taking the 1ml dose and I get a nice bowl of cat milk after.
We are sending you big rumbly, gum healing purrs and lots of love for your big surgery.
Luff from Gerry
(& Oliver & Mungo)
