Bloggie friends!!
Meet Herman.
Herman is a friendship cake mix. And yes, a friend gave me this mixture. Hoorah! It’s great to know I have friends. LOL!
Apparently I’m to look after the mixture for ten days. I’ll need to stir, talk (ahem), mix and add stuff to it.
On the tenth day I divide the mixture into five. I keep one part and then give the rest to four others.
Of course I hope I find four other friends to whom I can offload Hermans 1, 2, 3 & 4 to! Oh dear!
I then add lots more ingredients to my own Herman mixture and bake.
Come back in a few days to see how my own fiendish Herman fares!
Charlie says: I sit on the router and scramble the network.
See y'all soon!

Now that is very interesting, we hope you update daily on what ingredients you add.
Hello handsome Charlie.

Oh that stuff is EVIL! Just wait, all your friends will start avoiding you and Herman's sourdough spawn.
I know, I had a similar experience with a certain Stanley!
Oh! I for got to mention, before you bake Herman, dust your baking pan with a cinnamon/sugar mix instead of flour. It's DELISH!
Hey Charlie, Herman the friendship cake, I never heard of it! What stuff do you have to add? Oh, If I lived near you, I could take one part of it on the tenth day! LOL Interesting concept. I wonder if it will be good~
Well, have fun!
xxoo

Herman the friendship cake? Is that like George the yeast bread?
And missed you this week, Kitty.
Heck, Herman takes me back to the 70's when I, too, had a 'friend'...now I can't think of the last time I made 'real' pancakes, hahameow!
Herman is gonna be darn yummy fur sure!!!
Oh wow does this bring back memories! One summer someone gave me friendship cake mix and when I tried to give it away, my neighbors said "No thanks" so I made it all into cake. Over and Over and Over again. I had cakes everywhere and kept several in the freezer. Our 3 youngest boys were still in school and their friends came over constantly for cake. They called it "the summer of endless cake" and it remains one of the most magical memories they have. Their friends are all grown and married now but will still talk about "endless cake."
You amaze me. This I have to watch. I'm with Charlie. I'll probably be sitting on the router, waiting for the bake-off to take place.. Good luck to you and Herman. :)
That is cool! I can't wait to see what Herman grows into. :-) Keep us posted. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
My sis have a friendship like that too..MOL
but Not my mom she is not cooking !!! she just wait for eat...tee..heh...Like Me ; )
hi there Charlie and Jen
How interesting. I cannot wait to see what Herman transforms into.
10 days? Is it something yogurt-based? A liquid mix for 10 days?! You'll really have to tell us what's in it, that it wouldn't spoil over such a long time!
Charlie, are you the reason your human hasn't been blogging in a week? ;-)
Sounds like agood mix to me. Friendship cake sound real good. Hugs GJ xx
Well, I hope your friend is as nice as you. Can't wait to see the result.
Charlie we thought you might want to give that mixture a stir to rest your mum's arm. We are glad you are keeping the router warm cos ours sits on a shelf we can't get on to!! Mum is such a spoil sport!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Good luck with Herman! I'm not sure I'd remember the book guy... :)
This Herman sounds interesting. I'm a bit concerned that this mixture will be good after so many days. Hmm. The proof will be in the tasting. Can't wait to see the cake.
Never heard of a Herman cake! Hope it tastes good after all this effort!
I love stuff like that. I don't bake, so I pray no one ever gives me anything like that, or I'll break the chain. But I love it. My mom and her friends did that w/some bread starter. I think they called it "friendship bread." Best w/it! :o) <3
Hooray for new friendships! I was thinking, "oh, poor Charlie--he's been replaced!" But when I saw who Herman was, I was relieved! ;)
Happy Monday my friend!
♥.•*¨Elizabeth¨*•.♥
I expect you'll need to make at least a triple batch for all of your friends, Jennifer. :D Good luck with the final step of baking a cake.
I have heard of that before. Sounds like a fun things to do. I am sure anyone you give it to, will appreciate it a lot. Wish we didn't live to far away. Give it lots of good talking. Take care.
Friendship cakes are SOOOOOOO yummy!!! :-)
Oooh neat! Is that like a home made yeast?
Oh I love friendship bread! Too bad I live to far away from you. Its soooooo yummy. Your blog often makes me hungry for cravings :)
A friendship mix named Herman? How intriguing...
So fun! Someone gave me something similar in school, but I forgot it in my locker over the weekend. I hope you have better luck!
Ten days! I guess there's no eggs in Herman:) Wonder what one says to a cake mix?:)
Looking forward to hearing how you get on!
Mmm...I love friendship bread!
Hope Herman turns out well! :) It sounds good.
I've never heard of Herman the friendship cake. I'll have to stop back for more info.
Oh Dog! Now I'm hungry!
The friendship cake! And Charlie's droll comment. I knew if I came over here I would go to bed smiling! And I will!
It's great to see you again!! You've raised MY curiosity as to what's coming next!!!

My mom used to tend those. The cakes are scrumptious.
Friendship cake mix? Hmmm ... sounds interesting ...... I didn't know cake mix can last so long??
Can't wait to see Herman grow!
I had a Herman but he died while I was away on hols. I am sure you only divide the misture into 4 though, not five! I have a delish recipe for apple cake that you need a bit of Herman to make.
Is it a kind of sourdough thing?
Good luck with Herman. Someone gave me a starter once - it turned into a delicious cake bread.
Goodness Herman sounds like a chain letter cake LOL! Sounds fun.
Has Charlie been sitting on our router? It's always scrambling ;O)
Maybe the router is warm and toasty. Kinda like a heating pad on a cold morning or a cool evening. Charlie says, "Ahhhhh, that's the ticket."
That sounds like your version of an Amish friendship cake. :-)
Sounds interesting. I didn't know you could do this with cake mix. Have a great day!
I love this kind of cake recipe :-) I lost my "stuff" :-) years ago, shame, wish it would post :-)
Hi Charlie your looking rather dapper again old bean :-) x x x
Happy baking. Hope it tastes good! ;o) xx
May Herman prove to be quite tasty.
I have done that sort of thing before, they always come out tasty!
Hope yours is really good, it should be as you are a very friendly person.
Kat
Herman sounds...scary ;) But i'm curious to see his baked form :)
We'd like to know what you're adding too :-)
Oh, I remember Herman, he was married to Lily Munster, just being silly. I do remember my Mom's friend, saying she was bringing Herman by. Then she walked in with a bag of dough, huh?! Have fun with Herman and Charlie~
What an interesting and fun idea! I hope Charlie's fur isn't one of te ingredients!
Friendship cake--what a great idea. I hope Herman turns out to be delicious. Maybe Charlie will even move of the router to try a bit of Herman cake?
Kitty, get off that wiring! CatFi is not better than WiFi.
I've never heard of a friendship cake. It sounds weird, but anything involving friends and cake has to be good.
Oh my, 'Herman' has his own cake?
I recall Herman and his Hermit friends doing a few songs in the sixties. Now, he's got a cake named after him.
And Charlie, I have an internet service 'unprovider' :)
Take care,
x
Charlie's thinking the staff has gone crazy.
Hmmm. I don't bake but this sounds kinda like raising a lifeform as opposed to cooking. Does it make it taste any better? How could you bring yourself to eat something that has listened to you for so many days? I dunno...never talk to your food is my motto.
Can't wait for the mix and plot to thicken!.....
Do you have to eat....um, this cake? Sounds kinda scary.
Yum, sour dough. Can't wait to see a pic of baked Herman.
I can't wait to find out what happens next...
Oh yumm! I love Herman cake.
And new follower here (don't know why I wasn't already since I see you everywhere . . .) but Leah at That's Write sent me. :)
Haha, Charlie sitting on the router! Years ago I was given some dough to make friendship bread. It was so delicious and I ate tons and tons of it and kept it going for about six months. I ran out of friends to give it to and so I had about six different batches going at times. I was skinny back then, so eating that stuff all day long didn't add any weight on my skinny bones, but if I started baking that bread again these days, I'd become a blimp in no time because I have no self-control when it comes to that scrumptious friendship bread.
I think it's hilarious that you named it Herman and have to talk to it! LOL!
AAAaaaah, not Herman!! Duck, run! You'll be forcing him on all your friends, he'll be taking over your kitchen, he'll be the monster in the back of your fridge!
But, maybe, you can devise a cat cake recipe that uses Herman. I'm sure Charlie would appreciate it.
It's been a LONG time since I first heard of the friendship cake mix. I think I did it once, hmmm or maybe it was my sister, LOL!
I know you have more than four friends to share this cake with. Enjoy!!!
I can't wait to find out how you think Herman tastes. LOL Charlie, you beautiful cat, you're adorable.
Wow, what an...interesting idea.
KarenG, that sounds like an awesome summer! Who wouldn't remember a summer of cake?
All this talk about cake makes me want to bake. But not for 10 days. ;)
Have fun!
I am traveling this week and have spotty internet service, so I am sorry if I am slow in responding at times...hope to catch up soon!
This sounds a little like a sourdough bread starter. I've heard of people passing that on for many years from the original batch. I hope your cake will taste good!
lol... Charlie looks ticked. He must not like you messing around with other friends.
I've heard of these friendship cakes before and it sounds delish!
Charlie you are so handsome sitting on the router. Maybe we should try sitting on ours.
That friendship cake mix sound yummy.
Wow, that's quite a cake mix!
Cute post.
How's Herman doing?
:-) :-) :-) I still want part of that stuff :-) x x x post it :-) or I'll have to come and pick it up :-) x x x
LOL I thought it was a recipe to make the kitty. :D
(Seriously I haven't started drinking anything heavier than a Diet Dr Pepper today).
I like that this mixture has a name. How did it come by Herman?
I like that Charlie is working at hacking. He seems to want a career.
Ten DAYS?!? WOW---for a cake called Herman? Do you humans really do that? I hope it's good. I think I'll pose with Charlie by the router...!
Noir
charlie looks proud
If I lived down the road I would pop and get some! we had a friendship cake years ago when I was little and it was lovely. You are free of course to just bake all the mixture if it gets out of hand:-)
much love
martine
We had a "Herman" one time, many years ago!
Charlie, you look so regal sitting there like that.
Karen and "The Boys"
P.S. Old Kitty, we got signed back in under my photo.
I saw your Herman handiwork. Looked good to me! I once got a starter that was so delicious, but the piece I saved didn't make it in the long run.
