Trains, bakes and giants

Bloggie friends!

What does one do when unable to travel to work and forced to take a precious day’s leave because all trains to London have been cancelled due to “overhead wire problems?”

Bake cookies!

Thank you lovely Martine of Silencing the Bell for Beths’ Famous Oaty Cookies recipe.

The cookies were so easy to do and so so so so so yummy!

Thank you National Express East Anglia train company (not).

Charlie says: Now I sit on your glasses and look even more gigantic.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Oatmeal cookies for a RR Holiday. Fair trade, if you ask me.
Hey Charlie looks pretty snazzy with that collar he's wearing. It looks like stones. Rare precious stones. Or do my eyes deceive me.

Sounds like an idyllic day! I do wonder how many of the yummy-looking cookies on that plate are left now?!

It occurs to me that Charlie's markings make him look as if he has two pairs of eyes! Perhaps even more so when they are open?!

Trains not working in London? What? Now that takes the biscuit!

Oh oh! I hope you job would compensate in some way when it is beyond your control that you can't get into work ... but that happened to my daughter when the snowstorms last winter stopped the trains here. She was forced to take a vacation day.

The cookies look wonderful! I am trying to avoid sweets to lose a few pounds...very, very hard to do!

A perfect way to spend a day! Baking delicious cookies! Charlie looks chuffed too!

Hey Charlie, you should put those glasses on top of your head between your ears instead of sitting on it. :)
Biscuits look really yummy.

Haha! I had to laugh at you thanking the train company and then the (not)! Gotta love Charlie, such a beautiful cat. Those cookies look mighty scrumptious, by the way!

I loves cookies. I did also love 'reasons' for not going in to work. Well, actually, that was when I was NOT on a time card.

And I loves that 'tall' statue.

Seems like a logical progression to me? No train = cookies. Brilliant!

I think we all have "overhead wire problem" days don't we? Lovely cookies!

You see - every cloud has a silver lining. Even trains.

Hope you did some writing between baking and eating cookies!

Does overhead wire problems mean every train driver wants a day off?
If this happens in the middle of the Olympics it will be really useful for causing chaos on the roads! You shouldn't have to lose a days holiday for something you can't do anything about - it's not fair although those cookies look very very scrummy. Charlie you look angelic today - is it cos your mum is home and watching you?

Oh what a good idea to bake cookies. And wow, they do look good.
Charlie, we love your two black spots on either side of your head. Aren't you glad Mom got a surprise day off. What fun. Take care.

"Overhead wire problems" is an excuse I've never heard of but it sounds logical.

Look at the bright side -- you got paid to stay home & bake cookies!

Charlie's having a growth spurt? :)

Oh, man, those cookies look amazing. Trains closed--that has to put a damper on Londaon. I'm glad you had a lovely, impromptu day off!

Good for you. Sometimes the Universe thinks you need a day of whether you do or not.

A day off is always nice, IMO. But I don't like the sound of overhead wire problems!

But your wires are tight, my friend. Your astute comment on my beginning chapter of my friend's story is right on. I'm glad you spoke up. That's what I needed. The Robert Kennedy thing bothered me too. As you said, I did use it for the date, but I don't really think that matters, now that you mention it. So thanks to you I'm taking it out!! Have a great Sunday, says Jen, and me.

Too bad about taking a personal day-bonus up a day to stay home and make cookies. Charlie is quite dashing with his collar.

Those cookies look sooooo good.

Look at Charlie, so regal even when sleeping. What's all that stuff on his throne?

*steals cookies through cyberspace*

Charlie looks uncommonly peaceful and serene in that picture. He must be plotting something.
