Mistaken identity

Bloggie friends!

The fruit below is a quince! Not an apple!

All this time I thought these funny small trees growing wild in the estate where I live were just dwarf apple trees producing this really weird looking apple.

Except that they weren't apples, they're quinces. LOL! And the great thing is that Sue -the nice lady who looks after the estate - says I could pick them to my heart's content and make jam out of them! Yay! Cos you mustn't eat them raw as apparently the flesh is bitter.

Charlie says: I look like a giant kitty in this pic.

Have a fantastic Thursday!

I've heard of quince jam but never tried it. Yes that certainly does look just like an apple. Did you try taking a bite out of it? Did Charlie?

So I guess it is jam making for you at the weekend. Nothing like a bit of quince jam ontop of the rice pudding!

Hmm, do quinces make good jam? Then again, if you put enough sugar in it, the jam will probably be great. : )

It totally looks like an apple! I think I might have tried it cooked with something else, but I can't remember.

Charlie's looking adorable as ever!

good thing you didn't try to eat one while thinking it was an apple. It's like eating skittles while thinking they should be M&Ms.

Enjoy making your jam! x

Goodness it does look like an apple! Quince jelly sounds interesting. I wonder what it tastes like? Charlie looks very sphinx like.

I remember my mother-in-law making quince and ginger jelly. Hubby loved it but I thought it was horrible.

Charlie looks like a handsome ManCat in that picture. And that quince does look like an apple. Never seen on in real, so I wouldn't know the difference. Guess I would if I bit into one wouldn't I?

Y'all come see us when you can.

Charlie you look like a handsome hunk of a mancat to us. Mum says she has never tried a quince (knowingly) and she thought it was a picture of an apple when she first looked!

I have never eaten any quince. We want a report.
I love the way cats sit on paper all so nice and neat and near the edges. Charlie, you just fit on that notebook. Wishing you a really nice day.

I love quince jam! I get mine from the Turkish market, because it's very hard to find. There's a Turkish idiom - Have you eaten the quince? - which means you've just had to do something horrible, or something turned out horribly.

Rene said...

It almost looks like a tomato to me, LOL!

So that's what a quince looks like!

Charlie is jumbo sized today! :)

I love how Charlie fills up the whole notebook he is sitting on! I like his collar ...is it new?

Theresa Milstein said...

Are quinces as hard as apples or are they softer?

Quince and quiche always the go-to word in alphabet books.

William Kendall said...

I've never heard of that fruit.

Charlie looks suitably dignified.
