Lockers in the Amazon

Bloggie friends! Yay it’s Friday!

And did you hear about how Amazon are planning to install “lockers” in shopping centres/areas – the idea being that you order from Amazon then pick up your orders yourself in these lockers? I found the news article here.

Good idea? Bad idea? Apparently it’s already a reality in the US! Really?

It’s just we have zero tolerance where I work for using the work address to have personal stuff delivered and I’m never in when my Amazon packages arrive – but luckily I’m able to collect my packages from the post office later – so it’s not a problem really.

Anyway! Today is MO CATS DAY!!! More cats on the internet equal a very happy Old Kitty!

Thanks Ann of Zoolatry for the graphic!

Charlie says: Fresher catnip than these equals a very happy Charlie.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

They're setting up lockers? It's an interesting idea--though it does seem like a lot of people already pick things up from the post office.

LOL. It's still Thursday here!

Hope you have a great weekend. :)

The reason I order from Amazon is so I won't have put up with the crowds in the stores so this is would not be a welcome change for me.

Charlie looks like a happy kitty. Have a great weekend!

That might work well for lots who can't be home to get their packages. Happy Mo Cats Day Charlie!!!

I've not heard about the Amazon lockers.
And since Charlie is now higher than a kite, I'm sure he no longer cares...

I live in the U.S. but haven't heard of the Amazon lockers. I'll have to read that link after I write this. I don't like pkgs. being left on my porch either. I wonder who thought up such an idea! Have a good weekend.

I did read something about this locker thing. Not sure what I think about it as yet.

Yay the weekend.....TGIF!

Wow! I hadn't heard about the lockers. Sounds a bit bizarre to me!

Happy Friday to you and Charlie. Hope you have a great one!

I don't like the lockup idea as I live in a rural location and would have to travel to collect my stuff.

Charlie, wait til you see my next Weds haiku. ;O)

Interesting idea--I had no idea Amazon already was doing this in the US. Certainly not in Canada, at least not yet, not that I'm aware of.

Lucky Charlie, with that fresh nip!

Happy Mo Cats Day!

I haven't heard about the lockers for Amazon yet. I guess I can't see where that would be better than going to the post office. And HOORAY for Mo Cats Day! :)

Hi Old Kitty .. I can't see that taking off here - can you?

Mind you I asked a friend to take something to the States for me (it was open .. in case they could deliver it) - they ended up posting it from Austin (to Austin) for me .. it's arrived 4 weeks later via the State Tax Department?!

Stranger things might have happened?! Glad Charlie's ok .. enjoy the weekend .. Hilary

I can't believe that catnip is so powerful!

I haven't heard of those lockers but I'm not sure I would like them. I'm sure they are useful to someone though.

I hadn't heard of the Amazon thing. How interesting. Not sure what I think of it, but then again the post office has no problem leaving packages for us at our door.

Charlie looks happy with that nip :)

I am not sure if I like that idea or not. I kind of like having the package from Amazon come to my house.
Hi there Charlie. Glad you have some fresh nip. Looks like you are going to have a super week end. Take care.

Are you heading for another "high" Charlie - we think you have been nipping more this week!
Can understand Amazon wanting to cut costs but what if you order something heavy - not everyone has a car and if you live in the country and rely on public transport it could be difficult. We are lucky here as there is a depot about 2 miles away from us and we are generally the first morning drops but even those would be too late for someone going to work.

I always thought the advantage of buying from Amazon was that the stuff was delivered and you didn't have to go out and colect it?

I hadn't heard that Amazon thing, how strange. I think I prefer to have stuff delivered home and then pop to the P.O if I've missed it.

Hope you and Charlie have a lovely weekend too!

Story of my life, too... always have to pick up things from the post office as I'm never home when the packages arrive!

Interesting idea by Amazon... hmm.

I'm just grateful when my stuff isn't nicked by the Post Office. I send everything by Registered post.

I read about the Amazon locker thing... I'm not sure I like the idea of my stuff delivered to a locker... that presumably is accessible 24 hours... it would have to have tons of security!

Yay for Mo Cats Day!

The locker idea sounds mad to me. Our urban centres are too full of useless clutter already without adding anything else.

Anyway, I like having things delivered to home and I thought that was the whole point of Amazon.

Definitely thumbs down from me.

Mo Cats Day - Love it!! Love Charlie. As for the Amazon idea, it could work. It certainly does for Red Box and movies.

I certainly am enjoying the litter of kittens that the mother cat left on our back porch. I bought home some catnip for them recently and oh my...what fun entertainment! lol...

Interesting idea with the Lockers. Charlie, you seem to be enjoying that cat nip. Have a lovely weekend.

I have catnip in my garden and think of Charlie. No kitties in my household now.
I guess that Amazon wouldn't be up my alley. We live in a small community where the packages are safe when left on steps or porches. I've been away for days and had 3 or more packages waiting on my porch.
Have the happiest of weekends.

The locker idea just doesn't sound safe to me. Bad enough stuff is lost in the post .....

Hmmm... lockers, eh? It's not a bad idea, but what's the advantage of that over having it sent to your home? Not sure about that.
Always great to check in on Charlie! :D

Hmmmm...the lockers sound interesting although I'd imagine there would have to be an awful lot of them in a big city like NYC! I'd hate tio see the post office lose revenue, however, as the US post office is already almost abnkrupt.

Stacy said...

I don't think it's a bad idea. If you pick your stuff up from the post office, you're relegated to the hours they're open. If you work full-time, that can be a challenge. I like the idea of being able to pick up my stuff out of a locker, maybe not at any time, but at least with a few more hours of leeway.

I had not heard of this locker thing. It would be great because I often miss the delivery and have to go pick up the package in another town. UGH!

My poor kitty, Shaggy got hurt on Sunday. I'm taking her to the vet today. I couldn't get her in yesterday, and she was eating. I didn't want to take her all the way to the hospital because she hates car trips. But I want to make sure she's okay. Another animal hurt her belly.
