Bloggie friends!
This is my idea of living dangerously these days - trying out a handful of edible flowers - in my case some nasturtiums and violas.
Et voila!
I must admit I'd probably not have them again. They were very intense hot peppery almost bitter. Oh but they did look pretty arranged so daintily in my Eeyore and Piglet bowl!
Charlie says: I live dangerously too. I try gravel. (No he didn't!)
Yay it's nearly Friday!

Oh those looked beautifully delicious on the plate, interesting to hear how they tasted.
Hello handsome Charlie.

Cats are too smart for that.
Never thought of flowers tasting HOT.
I liked the idea of eating flowers too. Our farmers market has a bag of mixed greens peppered with flowers. They look prettier than they taste!
the flower looks beautiful to look
than to eat. heheh
happy everyday Charlie..
I've always wondered what those edible flowers tasted like! Ha :)
They are very pretty and autumn-like. I haven't tasted a flower that was yummy. I wonder if there is one.
Cheers,
xoRobyn
So glad Charlie really didn't eat the gravel! Look at you, living so dangerously. You are quite brave! I've never tried edible flowers before. But they did look lovely with all the pretty colors.
Take care...:)
I would never!

I don't mind nasturtiums in a salad--kind of bitter/nutty like arugula. And they are really pretty.
They do look lovely in the bowl!
Prettiest salad I've ever seen. I love trying new foods, especially spicy foods. Did you use a special dressing? I would definitely try a bite.
Look lovely but I would say not so edible. Charlie is one dangerous living cat.
We saw some for sale here in a supermarket. They're pretty but also pretty tasteless.
Charlie, I bet you found some bugs there : )
Have a great day my friend
xoxo
I've tried nasturtiums, not too bad as part of a salad. On their own? Maybe not
Not sure you're supposed to have them on their own. I thihnk maybe one or two in a bigger salad. and I heard that nasturtium leaves are OK to eat. But I could be wrong. I think you were brave to try them!
What do you do with them to cook them? Stir fry or sautée? Or just eat them as is? They would make lovely salad garnish, I think!
Have never tried to eat flowers - they looked pretty on your lovely bowl but reading your comment I doubt I shall be following your example. Charlie it's not macho to pretend to eat gravel and we think you would have had tummy ache
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Every time we try to eat flowers we get in trouble!
Hello Kitty... These flowers look beautiful on the colourful plate! I use them to decorate cakes, salads etc, but I'm not so brave about eating them. A female lecturer of mine once took a daffodil out of a vase, bit the petals off, chewed them up and swallowed them! I think she was just looking for attention ;-)

Wow, I wouldn't be as brave. I'd probably pick a daisy or something and poison myself.
Wow, you do live dangerously! I did have some kind of blossom stuffed with ricotta cheese once in Rome; it was YUM! But all I could taste was cheese, so maybe that's why.
LOL! That is a beautiful dish! :D I tried eating a flower once. It just tasted like ... nothing really. ;p
scratches to charlie~
Eeyore is one of Mom's favorites, so that is one great dish. Don't think I would enjoy eating those flowers. Glad to hear they didn't taste very good.Wishing you a fun and happy day.
You should eat them in a salad, and maybe Charlie can have some with his catnip. :)
I don't think I could try that... hot stuff doesn't agree with me.
Charlie might have a good idea here.
LOL! Charlie's pic tasting gravel, too funny!
I've tried homemade hibiscus juice (they make it at a Mauritanian restaurant I go to), have you tried it? it's pretty good. I have also tried fried zucchini flowers, hmmm yum!
The problem with eating flowers is that they look far too pretty to eat!
You're brave. I've often thought about eating flowers like that, but am a bit reluctant. Can you eat courgette flowers? I have some growing and they do look yummy.
I've never had the nerve to try flowers. Guess maybe I'm too 'civilized' in my eating habits. If It don't come from the grocery store or other approved food sources I don't eat it. I do know I've missed a lot of GOOD things in live, but ..... Now the gravel I've tried, but .....
You are brave! The only flowers I've ever eaten were candied violets, and they were basically pretty but tasteless.
Glad Charlie didn't really eat gravel...that would be a big case of indigestion for both of you!:)
Yum! Vegables! I like flowers too! that's why there are none in our house!
No they are not my cup of tea either. Charlie is wise not to eat gravel. My Borage does chomp my pants regularly. Not sure he's tried Nasturtiums, though. ;O)
