Dragons and elves and brollies, oh my!

They say that summer’s ending
In the middle of August they’re selling
Christmas trees in Harrods
When there’s 130 days to go yet!

Yes bloggie friends, this report reckons that the year’s UK summer is now well and truly finished.

Time to bring out the brolly!

As well as to get stuck into lots of writing competitions – thanks to lovely Patsy Collins for the info to this one!

They’re looking for fantasy short stories so y’all should enter!! Think dragons and elves and fairies, oh my! LOL! It’s free, the prize is an iPad and it’s global and in association with a big name publisher!

Charlie says: I fantasise about treats.

Happy Tuesday!

Harrods is selling Christmas trees? Seriously? I thought it was bad enough that stores are carrying Halloween merchandise now.

I certainly hope you're entering the competition...or at least that Charlie does. :-P

One noticable thing about long-term weather forecasts is: They don't work. Meteoroligists have enough trouble getting it right for the next 48 hours! Actually they have trouble with anything more than six hours hence.

We can feel the end of summer here too. It suddenly gets chilly mid-August here in Canada!

I wish you hadn't said Harrods were selling Christmas trees already - perhaps they'll just stock them as a year round essential next year!! The weather has been even more damp and cold than usual this summer and yet we are warned of global warming - mum says bring it on!
Charlie eat plenty of treats - they won't make the weather better but they will be tasty.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

I think summer is over here too, we are using plenty of brollies too.
Good luck with entering the competition.

Oh dear! I have to get my presents wrapped! Each year Christmas preparations seem to start earlier and earlier!

I had to look up brolly. (I like this word!) Sorry to hear that the weather gods think your summer is finished. It always seems like the shortest season.

Charlie: I'm with you there! I fantasize about chocolate treats!

I wish summer would end sometimes here. It's just too hot.

Hi there Charlie. You look like you are arranging your short story in your mind. Don't think we can do Dragons and elves etc. We can't wait to read your Mom's though. Take care.

I wish I could write short stories - alas, they're all novels. Sometimes even a series. :) Short and sweet is not my forte.

I haven't heard the word 'brollie' for years! Such a great word, such a necessary thing to have in an English rain.

An I Pad!! What a wonderful prize! Good luck!

We had 8 inches of rain in 24 hours in NYC this past Sunday ---I think it broke a record. If it was snow it would have been 10x as much...oh my!I love autumn but winter is too long.
