Bloggie friends!
I always say that one of the best writerly inspirations a writer may have is a furry friend.
Charlie teaches me to be optimistic and to seek opportunities in the here and now while simultaneously giving me frequent heart failures.
Here he is staring up at the bird feeder. What you can’t hear are my screams in the background for him to leave the birds alone.
Charlie says: Ooops there goes my snack.
Happy Summer Solstice everyone! Today is the longest day of the year - “when the sun is at its maximum elevation”. (source).
So while I’m all for the sun being around for today for as long as possible, let’s hope the 9-5 work hours don’t drag longer than they should! Ahem!

I told my students that 'tomorrow' since it's still Monday here, that it's summer and they asked if we got the day off; by golly, I think we should!
Don't give up Charlie, they'll be back!!!
Happy Solstice to you! Hard to believe that after this we start losing daylight again. LOL. The spring/summer months are passing too fast.
I'd be more worried about Charlie and the cars--lol. A little raw meat is good for him...unless he just toys with the "prey" and doesn't eat it?
Charlie says he was just looking!
Ah yes indeed. Our non-judgemental and loving furry friends are quite the inspiration and such a source of comfort.
Of course, in my case, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star, is the 'pawsitive' writer on my shy, humble and rather unknown blog.
Are you sure today is the longest day of the year? I thought all days had 24 hours :) Take care and may we get a bit of sunshine.
In kindness, Gary

just think, the sun will still be out when you are done working!!
Poor Charlie, you ruined his dinner!!!
xoxoxo
And here is the shortest day on year!!! Kisses!
I couldn't agree with you more; in fact, if anything the work days should be shorter, right?
Charlie looked a bit put out.
Great pictures of Charlie- almost enough to make a flash fiction piece out of. Have a great day!
happy summer!!!!
I didn't know it was the longest day of light in the year. Cool. And to think I missed it!
That is a very low hanging bird feeder! How can Charlie resist looking at all those tantalizing flying morsels close to his head ? :)
Happy Summer Solstice!
My mom love the way your mom say " Charlie teaches me to be optimistic and to seek opportunities in the here ", My mom learned that from me too : )
xoxo
ACK! Way to go...screeching off Charlie's snax!
Charlie
I saw your snack too!

Happy Solstice! Shame it's raining and we can't actually see the sun ...
Lets hope your working day doesnt drag. My friend has a new cat who has a fondness for chasing birds, there is a tense atmosphere in her garden at the moment.
Oh Charlie, you need to find a better snack than those cute little birds. That is why our Mom doesn't have a bird feeder. We would have ourselves some snacks too. Happy first day of Summer.
Happy Summer Solstice to you both too - have a peaceful day Charlie.
Luv Hannah and lucy xx xx
Happy Summer to you too~!!! We've missed you as Google deleted our other blog, so we MADE mom start us a new one~!!!
Beautiful pics! Cute cat. :-)
He is the welcoming committee!!!
Happy Summer Solstice, sweet friends.
We love ya both bunches.
Happy Summer Solstice!
Furry friends are always good for comfort and optimism. Yay for Charlie!
I hope you have a great first day of summer! :)
Happy Summer Solstice! I hope Charlie gets a treat for being a gentleman and leaving the birds alone.
charlie may not wanna EAT it, just kill it... cuz he can ;) lol
happy solstice to you as well, kit :)
Charlie's thinking of how to get out while you're not looking.
Ahmen sister. Of course, I no longer work a 9-5, but I did write all day.
I can almost hear Charlie say, "Ah man, I was sooooo close."
Naughty Charlie!
Charlie is so cute. My cat does similar things -- she is a terror, a delight, an inspiration.
I shout at my kitties the same way. Poor Charlie, Did he have his ornitholgy spotters book tucked in his pocket?
I once told my cat to 'Drop it!' when he had a squirrel hanging from his mouth. He did and it scurried away, thank goodness. LOL! :O)
Yo forgot about that bit where the furry editor helps by lying all over the keyboard.... :-)
Charlie's just saying, "I'm practicing Solctice Day, Charlie style."
I, too, was concerned about the cars. I hope Charlie is traffic savvy. Maybe cats are more so than dogs. I always grab Cody when a car goes by. Charlie says, "A bird could have been more fun than my string."
Hope you had a good solstice. We managed to see a little sunshine before the evening ended.
The longest day of summer -- my favorite day!
Yeah, right, like Charlie's really going to listen to you! He's got his eye on the sparrow[s]...
Happy summer! Though it's in the 60s and raining here. It's been raining for DAYS! Today is our first day out of school. Why won't the weather cooperate.
Glad Charlie didn't nab the bird. Saturday night, guess what my kitty was chasing in the yard? A RAT! Yes.
So glad she didn't catch it.
Cats do teach us to put one paw in front of the other, don't they...
