A Deuce of a Riddle - a (bad) poem by Old Kitty

I wonder if you can guess – what all these explain?

Wet pawprints on the bed

A bedraggled furry head (Poor Charlie!)

A lawn grown green overnight

Not a blue sky in sight!

The answer is simply this

Wimbledon starts today – and so does some serious rain!

(Tis traditional!)
:-)

All pics taken on the Saturday just gone!

Yes. Always serious rain falls when you don't want it to!

I just read your comment on my WordPress blog about the poem my little daughter posted about her gay father, and I said this in reply: Oh Kitty. Jen’s so sorry and so am I that you don’t know yet about Larry. Well, keep reading. You still don’t know exactly how it all played out!

I still think it's lovely how you "savor" a book. I should be less rushed!!!

Poor Charlie, it looks as if he wants to go out and play in the rain. I missed Charlie in my absence.

Charlie! You're supposed to wipe your paws before you jump on the bed! You don't wipe them on the bed!!!!

The paw prints are so cute...Of course, not so cute when I have to clean them up in my own house. Ha.

Have a wonderful--and dry!--Monday.

Awh Charlie looks like he's ready to go off to watch the Wimbledon in the rain :O)

We've had a ton of rain here, too, and not just rain but bad storms. At least the grass and flowers like it!

It's tradition? I hate when the weather doesn't play fair!

KarenMcG said...

Oh, I thought the wet prints on the bed and the wet head had to do with Charlie resting there in the middle of the sprinkles from the lawn sprinkler. Not the rain.

We're getting rain this morning, too...but we don't have a Wimbledon.

The Monkeys said...

We hope the rain clears up! Poor Charlie does not seem to enjoy having a wet head!

We think Charlie might have been outside and not wiped his feet until he got on HIS bed! You must have had the same weather as us - on Saturday there were some horrendous storms and large hailstones. We are certain your poems are never bad.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

OMG. I so did not guess the right answer. Shame on me! I'm not really into tennis but it occurred to me Mr. G is. Perhaps I can make him watch every match so I can get on with my writing? Muhahahaha.

We always have serious rain when the yearly stock show and rodeo comes to San Antonio, so we understand rain for Wimbledon.

Poor kitty! Was he stuck outside in that mess? Well, now he won't need a bath. :)

How funny! It's like the opposite of Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena where it's only rained like once in 100 years!

Uh oh, I see someone has to do some extra washing thanks to Charlie!

Awww, poor Charlie! I've missed saying hi to him. Let's see how long blogger let's me comment today...

Saturday was so soggy! My cats are constantly complaining to me about the weather. The Naughty Tortie refuses to step one dainty paw outside whereas The Ginger Whinger will run out, run around, and run back in all confused.

Lydia Kang said...

Wet paw prints! I got one of them on my new white shorts the other day by an enthusiastic dog. Grrr.

Marg said...

Charlie, you couldn't help it could you. It is really hard to keep those paws dry when it is raining. Our Mom loves Wimbledon. She watches it like crazy on TV.
The poem was super.

Love the poem! :)

I guess it usually rains when Wimbledon starts?

Actually, it's been raining pretty much since the international cricket season started! Amazing that sports like tennis and cricket were started in such a rainy part of the world!

Ah yes, Wimbledron rain. Sigh! I'm so ready for summer to come back again.

Charlie, you didn't really stay out there and get wet did you? Like with real water?

Theresa Milstein said...

Poor, Charlie! Just like it always rains there for Wimbledon, it always rains here for the last day of school. Poor teachers and administrators, bless their hearts, don't realize this and plan outdoor activities. With no Plan B.
