Darkness and Light!

Bloggie pals!!

Below is the reason we went AWOL last week!

The circuit breaker for the lights exploded, the rest of the circuit breakers were ok but it meant living by candlelight and torches  for a few days while Mr Electrician sorted out some dodgy wiring! LOL!

Note to self:  MUST always have spare matches! And candles. And torches. And batteries for the torches! (Thanks, Kim!).

Hope to catch up with y'all soon! Have a light-filled glowing week!

Sorry you had no power. I'm sure the cats didn't even notice.

We sure hope the lights stay on for a long while now!

That could make for a very romantic and peaceful week. I hope you had heat.

That's a good reason to be AWOL!

Tamago said...

Oh wow! Candlelight and torches only, for a few days! Must have been very inconvenient, but glad the other breakers were ok :-) It's a very good thing to keep batteries for such occasions. I have to check if we have plenty. I hope you have light-filled week, too!!

Candlelight sounds romantic until there's no alternative! I'm so glad your lights are back on and you're back and Gumtree and Charlie can get back to being themselves.

Me, my blog got hacked and a wicked, wicked cold won't let go of my sinuses. Sniffle. But my blog has now recovered and I hope by body does too very soon.

I always hate when the power goes out

I once lived for three days in a hard winter without electricity. It was awful. I was frozen solid.

Our human says to make the best of it and dine by candlelight! :-) Purrs!

Eek! Glad you're back in the 21st century now...

Yes, batteries are necessary! :-)

Glad things are sorted out again...though you know, most of us do look better in candle light. Ha.

Have a terrific, Light-filled week!

Glad it's sorted, Kitty. No one likes being kept in the dark.

Oooo, that's not good. My dad sees some pretty... interesting wiring things on the job as well. Scares him sometimes, the way people have done things. Hope you have a great week!

Glad you're back in the light. I had bad memories of being out of electricity - mostly related to hurricanes.

Glad to see you're up and running again! Gotta invest in candles and such. You just never know.

We're relieved to hear from you as we thought you might have been ill.
Hard luck about having no lights especially in the winter with the dark nights - although we can tell now that it is lighter for a bit longer now.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

I must say it looks soooooooooo romantic though!!! :)

I wondered where you were last week. It sucks you lost your lighting. Candles are awesome, but I'd like living on them to be an option, not a necessity.

Natalie Aguirre said...

Sorry you had no electricity. Glad you got it fixed. And had a stockpile of what you needed.

You've jumped forward to Halloween.

The candles look so charming and inviting!

It looks very cozy though! I hope it was warm in the house during this time! Thanks for commenting on my recent blog post. I've gone incognito for months via commenting but will get back in the swing of things asap!

No light is one ting but we hope you had heat and water! This winter has not been fun!!! We had no water for 3 days when our well house froze. Stay warm.

Oh my--a few days?! That must have been frustrating. Glad you're back!

Jans Funny Farm said...

That does not sound like fun. Glad you have electricity again. And most of all, we're glad there was no fire!

OH your poor Momma!!! Candles and torches and dodgy wiring is TRULY a nightmare! My momma went through that several years ago. Awful. xxoo

Hart Johnson said...

Is it wrong that I sort of love losing power? Glad you got the lights back on, Kitty!

ANGEL ABBYGRACE said...

Oh dear! We know that was not easy! Hope it did not affect the heat!! But were you without electricity for any length of time?? OH MY.

(hugs to the kitties)

It may not have been practical, but it looks really cozy with all those candles. Have a lovely Monday.

Yikes! What a week. Mommy is afraid to use candles with us around so she has several torchlights. ;)

Saku said...

Oh my, that would be a real nuisance. Glad to hear you've got the wiring sorted out.

Have a great week!

Think peace and quiet. I'll bet Charlie and Gumdrop didn't pay that onset of darkness one single bit of attention. They probably purred louder. Loved the candles.

Norma said...

How did Charlie and Gumtree cope?

Angel Ginger Jasper said...

Oh no that is not good. I hope they have managed to sort it for you. x

Ooh, I hate power problems! Hope everything gets sorted out quick!

Crikey, I hope you don't rely on electrical heating to keep warm??

Take care xo

OMCod! Are you all okay? That sounds lethal! And chilly. Purring you're all good again and not too broke.

Oh my! I'm glad your lights are back in on, and your electricity is in order. Those short circuits can cause fires, so I'm glad you were OK!

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Also must remember where you put them. The last time I had a black out, I totally forgot where I put the candles and matches, and the batteries for the torches had died. lol

Brigid O'Connor said...

Hi Kitty, shame about the electricity.
We had similar goings on a few years ago and if you have time, go to a diy superstore (I know...) and stock up on those lights that are battery operated. We found them invaluable, just remember to buy batteries, not fun hunting for them by candlelight...

Tracy Jo said...

Oh no! That can be stressful but I bet you turned it into a great advenutre. :-) Have a great week!

Manzanita said...

And let there be light.
I get it.... what we call a flash light, you call a torch. It's odd that for all the British people I've known, I never heard that before. Call me slow. LOL

Hi Old Kitty - gosh that must have been a pain .. but I'm glad it's been sorted before worse happened. At least it wasn't last year when it was positively freezing ...

But so glad you're lit up once again .. bet Gumtree and Charlie were glad you were around for extra warmth!

Cheers Hilary

That explains the AWOL all right. I am glad it's all sorted and you are back again. Thank you for your purrs for Bambino. His vet visit went well and he's eating more.

Makes you realise how much you miss electric lights when the power isn't working. Right then, my computer is run by candle power :)

Hope you're all lit up now!

Pasha's Mommy said...

I hope at least you had heat! and I hope no kitty has burnt whiskers :)

Soggibottom said...

This happens :-) No, it's not quite so much fun as you think, but the place smells great with all those candles around. Keep safe, and Charlie, you look just beautiful in the soft candle light.

Oh dear. That is so not fun. I remember last year we had an extended power outage and I missed all the modern luxuries. I hope you get everything up and running.

I'm sorry this happened. I've only been through this after hurricanes. I know how inconvenient it is to be days without power.

meowmeowmans said...

Those candles look so warm and inviting, but we are sure you're glad to have your electricity back. :)

Theresa Milstein said...

Are you keeping the candles at your computer now for mood lighting? Looks pretty.

My goodness-what a pain it must've been without electricity. Glad it's over!
