Long words and lie-ins

Bloggie pals!

Not only is today a Bank Holiday in the UK (hoorah!) but it’s also National Dog Day too! Awwww!

Charlie says:  I make the bed

So while I have a totally lazy day today, here’s a fabulous word to mull upon:
Osseocarnisanguineoviscericartilaginonervomedullary – means "having the structure of the human body".

Apparently the word itself  is a compound adjective – a string of words stuck together!

I found out about this reading my saturday newspaper - in a section called "Ask a grown up". The question was "Does my cat, Oscar know he's a cat?" and the lovely answer is here with the above word as part of it!

Have a great week everyone!

I love it! I think my cat thinks that he is a human. :-) Happy Holiday!

Charlie, we will help you make the bed, and then maybe take a rest in it. We are good at resting, but we do work a bit. My job is to keep Mommy safe, and to keep the rats away. Sometimes Mommy sleeps in the big bed, and I have to keep her safe in the big bed. So, I have to stay in big bed with her.

My word, it would take me all day just to spell that long word. :-)

I don't think any cat knows he's a cat. They usually think they are people.
Have a great holiday on Monday!

Bank holidays don't mean too much to me but I hope you enjoy your lie in.

Happy National Dog Day! And enjoy that Bank HOliday, too. :)

Good job making the bed, Charlie. Old Kitty must really appreciate your brilliant help!

Love the answer to the question from the child about Oscar.

Wow. That is one long word! And hope you had a lovely national dog day. I wonder if we have one of those? :)

Uh-oh, does it mean that the cat thinks it's either more like a human or dog!

ha ha that was a clever answer!
Charlie that bed looks so fluffy and nice and white, just like you!

I'm not even going to try to say that word.

Interesting answer.

I think cats know exactly who and what they are and are secretly conspiring with dogs to take over human civilization.

I'm jealous about your bank holiday! But Labor Day is coming up for us Yanks so I'll have a three-day weekend soon. Have a lovely time off.

Holy freaking cow! I think that's the longest word I've ever read. Ever. Must add to vocabulary...

I think I need to go back to bed after reading it!! =)

That's a nice cozy bed for Charlie, Old Kitty!
Have you learned that long word by heart? You are exercising the mind nicely, Old Kitty...ha!

William Kendall said...

That word is, as they used to call it, a twenty five dollar handle!

A good lie-in is always welcome.

Rick Watson said...

That's a mouthful. You, Charlie and Gumtree have a great holiday.

Cute article about if a cat knows he's a cat. I hope you are enjoying your lazy day (it's probably close to being over now).

Charlie looks so adorable there but my thought is maybe he's preventing the bed from being made instead of making it, which is much preferable I think!

I almost posted about National Dog Day. I'm glad you did, since I didn't.

Great answer on the cat knowing it's a cat. Now I know I'm a osseocarnisanguineoviscericartilaginonervomedullary creature. I learn something new everyday!

That bed looks so cozy and inviting. Wonder why Charlie isn't laying down? Maybe he just woke up and is deciding whether to jump down or to lay back down!

Hi Kitty, enjoy your relaxing day. I had to go in to work, but it was so quiet I went home. Yipppeeeee.. Charlie blends in well there.xx

What a great word, Old Kitty. Thank you for sharing.

We hope you're having a fun Bank Day.

And that Charlie sure does know how to dress up a bed. But wait a minute; where' Gumtree?

If you think that's a big word, just wait until you read this:
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu - which is the Māori name for a hill!!!! Crikey!

Enjoy your week, Old kitty xoxox

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Wow, does the UK have a national cat day too? I hope so, otherwise that would be a little unfair to all the cats of the nation ;)

Saku said...

Yikes that is quite the word. I can't imagine learning to spell it!

Good work with the bedmaking Charlie!

T.F. Walsh said...

Ahhh, just like my cat.. lounges around in bed long after we've all gotten up:) hehe

Ellen Whyte said...

Sheesh, we'll still be pronouncing that word next week!

fairyhedgehog said...

I had to scroll down the page quickly to get away from the awful words my cats do NOT want to see: "National D-- Day". Honestly, Kitty, what were you thinking?

Oh, and Rufus definitely knows that he is a cat and that I am too. Well, I must be because I'm his Mummy and I'm always there for him to wipe his wet, muddy paws on. You know it makes sense.

My goodness that is quite the long word! Reminds me of the new Mary Poppins movie coming out where the author of Mary Poppins says she doesn't like long words and the Disney producers of the movie look down at the Supercalifragilicious.... word they had created for a song!

Manzanita said...

That was informative of you to direct us there and that big word. If Charlie is making the bed, he thinks he's the maid. Ha
Happy you had a bank holiday. Did all the banks celebrate?
