Don't fence me in!

Charlie says:

The whole row of houses is my home
The surrounding gardens and fields are where I roam
I give my human many heart attacks
As I disappear and pretend to never come back(s)!

I am

a free

spirit!

pics taken 8/09/12 at 5.45pm after he went missing for 24 hours! So please forgive me if I have a long lie down now!
Old-er and grey-er haired Kitty!

Oh, Charlie, that was NOT nice. And you with no teeth; however did you eat for those hours?!

Nicki might sing the same song, Don't Fence Me In, but this human is all for fences. LOL.

Awww he looks adorable as always. My cat seems to have taken to stopping by other peoples back yards. I'm glad he always comes back home though.

Oh now Charlie, you know better than to wander off like that and worry Mum!

Glad you found him again! Those 24+ hours must have been nerve-racking.

It's good Charlie is back safe. I hate when my girlfriend's cat runs away. He doesn't go far but he'll be gone for awhile.

Charlie! Oh sweetheart, please don't give heart attack to your human like that! Glad you came back :-) Long time ago, back in my home town in Japan, my kitties could go outside any time they wanted. One stormy night, one of them was missing. I went outside and looked and looked, but couldn't find her. Later I found her chilling in the closet. She was like, "what's wrong?" I can't forget how I was releaved.... :-)
Enjoy grass and sun, Charlie. Have fun outside, but make sure you come back home :-)

Oh, I'm so glad he came back. It would scare me to death if my dog ran off.

Oh Charlie, don't frighten your mom like that. I think you need to be supervised on your visits outdoors!

24 hours? I would have been in a panic too! I would have been out scouring the neighborhood and calling animal shelters. I bet after all that time Charlie just walked back into his home like nothing was wrong.

Sigh. Cats.

Hi Old Kitty - gosh I can imagine your distress ... bad Charlie - he must know his mistress gets distressed when her nearest and dearest isn't around ... Charlie can I whisper in your ear "Please don't leave Old Kitty again for that long - it's not fair on her heart" ...

Cheers to you both .. I hate being fenced in too?! Hilary

aw. Glad he came back! He is a free spirit! I hate it when my cat grizzli dissapears for a whole day. I end up walking around the neighborhood calling for him. Yesterday, though, he left a huge dead rat smack dab in the middle of our yard. So at least I know what's been keeping him busy:)

Hannah and Lucy said...

Mum knows how you feel Jenn - we don't stray very far but some of her "before cats" were great wanderers like Charlie is. He doesn't look upset though - maybe he found himself a pretty lady cat!

My cat disappeared for three days once right at Halloween time after we'd moved into a new house. He was all black, so I was so worried about him, but eventually he wandered back just fine! I'm glad Charlie made it home just fine, too!

Rene said...

Oh my gosh, don't disappear like that Charlie! Wow, we are sure glad he's home safe.

Anne Gallagher said...

Funny how much we panic when our cats go missing. I do it all the time.

Did you ever get your new neighbors and are they nice? Do they like Charlie?

Talli Roland said...

Oh, yikes! So glad he returned. My cat used to go off for jaunts as well, and it nearly gave me a heart attack each time.

Yeah, cats can be like that. And if free spirit means taking a nap, pencil me in!

I can relate to your worries because Henry, my tabby, has done the same thing several times! It was heart wrenching, exhausting, frustrating, and worrisome! One time he was gone for 6 days and I tried everything to find him. Finally, I found him under a bush in my yard! I'm glad Charlie decided to come home! What a relief!

fairyhedgehog said...

Glorious photos but oh, my word you must have been so worried. Rufus does that to us from time to time but I never thought Charlie would try it!

My mummy doesn't let me go out. She says it's very dangerous in our area and there are many people that don't like cats.

Bad Charlie. You should not do that. Our Mom knows just how your Mom feels. Some of us disappear for days. Gertrude was just gone for 2 days and just came home this afternoon. It is not fun. These kitties sure like to worry us. Take care.

Katie Isabella said...

Charlie I beg you. Just because you are allowed out, please please please don't do that. You are older now and there was the tooth operation..you would be helpless darling. Please..stay home. One really CAN get used to being in or at least an enclosure outside where you can enjoy the put of doors yet not get into danger or attacked by other animals. Please Charlie.

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

OMGoodness! I would be terrified! I'm so glad Charlie came home.

We would not like not knowing where Charlie is either!

All God's creatures have to get out of their comfort zones and explore. But I agree, your 20 something kids and pets give us gray hair and wrinkles when they go missing.

LynNerdKelley said...

Wow, I'm so glad he came back and now you can have some peace. I can't imagine how frantic you were. Why do our animals do this to us? Scream!

Jackee said...

What a stress on you! No fun when pets go missing. Take a nap--you (and Charlie) might need one. :o)
