Two tins tied together with a piece of string

Bloggie friends!

It’s the second week of January 2012 and I’ve absolutely nothing of excitement to report (apart from the little matter of me nearly ditching the blog and leaving Blogworld on Friday for good when Google removed my blog - but that’s another story) !! LOL!

Charlie says: I move further along the carpet to play with my toys.

p.s. Thank you to all of you who talked me off the virtual ledge of Google Headquarters (lovely Jan, Kim, Marg, Cheri... all of you, all of you!)

p.s. Also thank you to my lovely special scrummy friend who lent me their mobile number - because I don't own a mobile phone or want to!

To unlock my Google accounts I had to get a verification code and the Google Bots would only recognise a mobile number for them to send me this code.

p.s. I say bring back the Pigeon!

Happy Blogging!!

So that's what happened. Another blogger had a plea Friday on her blog for news as to your blog's whereabouts.

That's scary what happened. Google keeps asking for my mobile number which I refuse to give. I don't need any unexpected charges because they found a new form of marketing. (Yep, I'm one paranoid girl!)

ha ha ha! You Luddite, you and the Hubby are two peas in a pod...are you sure you're not related? The Cats would love to mail you a pigeon!

Oh my. Blogger has been acting up quite a lot lately. It's ridiculous how you have to get your own account unlocked!
"Two tins tied together with a piece of string" Now that's what I call technology.
See ya later eh

Google removed your blog! There's always something with them!!

You know I got a WordPress blog because I was getting so many Blogger glitches. But I have to use Blogger so I don't lose all my Blogspot friends. I don't want to lose them. I don't want to lose YOU!!!!! Gosh, I'm so glad you got it back! I guess you know your friends, including me and Jen, would miss you dreadfully!

Glad you didn't jump! What would we do without you and Charlie?
And my Charlie has a lot of cat toys...

I am so glad you didn't really disappear! And happy to see Charlie making progress :)

JDC said...

Good that you got it back, yeah I hate that gmail and google keeps wanting to know my phone number, basically if one of my close friends turns on me one day they could completely steal all my accounts.

Helena said...

I'm so glad you didn't jump off the cyber ledge! I myself once had a scare about my blog vanishing (turns out I was only late paying for my domain name), but fortunately I didn't have to deal with a giant like Google. Kinda scary what can happen when the technology we depend on lets us down.

Eek, don't leave! We love your blog! Meow from Au, Target and Guido.

Oh noes! I missed all the drama! We nearly lost you!

I'm glad you got it sorted. If you ever need help with it again, you know where I am! (I have a mobile, although I admit I'm not terribly good with it.)

Glad you sorted it all out, Old Kitty, Charlie doesn't seem to have been affected by the trauma.

Ok, this happened to me as well and borrowing Mum's phone didn't work as that one is already registered to her blog!

Anonymous said...

I was panicking too when you disappeared. I was all set to email and check everything was okay with you and my ex (Charlie Chuckles MacDumpling)

Glad you got it sorted and you're both okay!

Phew!

I can't believe you need a mobile # to get a blog back. And then I can't believe you don't have a mobile #. Are there still public phones you can use in an emergency? I'd be in trouble in the US. There are few pay phones and the ones that still exist get garbage stuck on them. I'm afraid to touch them to see if they work. I might catch something!

Hi, Charlie!

Anne Gallagher said...

Well, I guess I should pay attention to those pop-up signs that say to get a mobile number attached to my blog.

So glad you're still here. And I know how you feel about having nothing of excitement to report.

Have a great week.

Your word verification was

I wonder what that means.

Google is taking this a bit too far. Lots of people don't own mobile phones. We have an old one but it doesn't text or anything fancy like that. Phone calls...that's all!

Hannah and Lucy said...

Had you been rude to the Google Empire?? What dastardly deed had you done to be banished from the CB
We were worried in case you were sent to "The Tower" and the ravens pecked you in their quest for tasty morsels.
Take care Jenn and luv to Charlie from Hannah and Lucy and the typist.

Fuzzy Tales said...

If you haven't read Jan's post (yesterday) re: checking your account settings and making sure the # they have is accurate, etc., please do so. I read it and then had to update my contact info.

Let's hope it was a one-time thing!

ACK! Glad you got talked off the ledge, too~! (and I am a fellow cell phone rebel. I really don't WANT to be that available. Though I live with 3 cell phones, so I'd probably figure it out) I hate it when they do that, though!

Shawn said...

OMC, how did you get locked out of your blog? I would have been tearing my hair out, jumping up and down, and probably saying thev@$!#% words!

Glad you didn't jump out of the virtual window!

omg. so so SO glad your bloggy self is back online. As I said Friday, what would I do without you & Charlie to make me grin or sniggle or whatever...?

But not pigeons. They're messy & cats'll eat them. ;p

Esme said...

I love that you do not own an mobile-that is great-I have an old old mobile-I am smart enough and do not need a smart phone is my response. I only have a cell because I am self -employed. ENjoy the week.

What??? Google removed your blog?? Why I hear myself asking. I would like to know more of this story. What scary stuff. They removed my blog once when I signed up for Google + and accidentally put the wrong year for my birthday. They thought I was only 8 and therefore underage and removed my blog immediately. I had to hustle to get it back because I felt so naked and abandoned with my blog gone!

Rene said...

We are glad you're back (according to Google)! And Charlie certainly has quite a selection of toys to play with.

Frances Garrood said...

I spent a lot of time on that ledge this week, too, and had to be helped off by an expert. (I reckon Charlie would agree about the pigeon...?)

cleemckenzie said...

They don't make it easy, do they? Sorry about your blog clog, but really glad you didn't quit.

Good idea, bring back the pigeon. I hate all this technology. Sometimes, I want to throw the computer out the window but I can't lift it that high. Hope you have a great week and I am really glad you are back. Take care.

LynNerdKelley said...

Oh no, I'm so sorry you had to deal with all that blog scare! How awful! I'd have a meltdown. I'm so glad you're still blogging. I'd miss you if you quit. Your comments always brighten up my day! Take care now!

What? Glad Google returned your blog!

Felted House said...

I say bring back pigeons and pen and paper too. And do away with touchscreens (have you tried to use one of those? I'm completely useless with them). I do have a mobile but am having to replace it each time it breaks with second hand versions of the same model from e-bay because I do NOT want a new all-singing all-dancing one! I'm glad you're back able to get into your blog, how odd that it got removed. Computers do the strangest things sometimes. Happy New Year to you and Charlie xx

Kitty I was wondering what happened to you!! Can you give any advice to us in case this happens to one of us? I heard it happened to another blogger last month too.

Also, the Blogger gods were not kind, because you NEVER miss my posts (and I LOVE you for that!) but you missed my Friday post because of Blogger shenanigans and I had a special treat just for you there! If you get a chance, go to http://margoberendsen.blogspot.com/2012/01/test.html

Glad you got everything back! What a pain and worry - like Stina, I refuse to give google my mobile number in case I start getting charges. So I guess I'm paranoid too!

Charlie is looking well - too bad you couldn't convince him to wear the hat, he'd look very dashing.
