Ain't no mountain high enough!

Silly snail, silly snail
Crawling up my door
Silly snail, silly snail
Don’t you belong on the ocean floor?
If I ask you, silly snail
Why you do what you do?
Will you reply, like George Mallory
And tell me, “Because it’s there”?

Charlie says: I prefer fish.

George Mallory (mountaineer, 1886-1924) when asked "Why do you want to climb Mount Everest" allegedly replied "Because it's there".

Have a great day and weekend!

That's a big snail compared to the ones we see around here. I'm surprised Charlie wasn't more interested in it!

That is a great poem. Silly snail. Ohhhh it's so sad about Mallory but his great-great grandson made it to the top in 1995.

::Shudder::

Okay, I just don't do snails. LOL. Chumley used to bring them into the house all the time, on his long fur, and I'd have to pick them up, clean up their slimy trail. Gross, gross, gross.

How did I only just notice in your profile that your favourite movie is Blade runner?

My girls bought me the five disk "Final Cut" version for my birthday last year.
It has every version ever released, including a new updated directors cut.
Heaven!

Snails sure are persistent, as slow as they go. O hat those slimey little trails they leave. CIf you ever need a cat sitter, I'll be happy to watch and feed Charlie. He looks like a great kitty!

I like your snail poem. I thought they mainly hung around gardens. & some of the poor things end up on people's plates. Ugh!

People always want to climb mountains. It might be there but it definitely is a LOT of work! :)

Great poem! I think I prefer fish, too.:)

That is a great Silly Snail poem. It is silly to be climbing up your door. It is just going to have to go back down. Charlie, that looks like a great toy. Hope you both have a super Thursday.

Hi there! Just the other day I came across a sea snail the size of a rabbit stuck on the beach. It even squirted out purple ink. Weird. Your poem reminded me of it. :)
Have a great weekend too!!! Me-ow!

Yikes -- that is a giant snail!

The snails have come out here too, with all the constant rain we've been having lately.

PS: Thanks for your concern about my eye. Unfortunately it is taking along time to heal and I am beginning to feel like "Popeye" as I walk around with a eye swollen shut..lol

I am always amazed at how far a snail can travel. I always find a lot by my house, but I guess that is to be expected, considering.... :)

Daft snail - that's never the best way to get Charlie's attention!

Lydia Kang said...

Ew, I saw that snail before I read your post. I can see why Charlie likes the fish better. The shell is too crunchy, LOL!

Ann Dziemianowicz said...

Because it's there! Why not.

Charlie: Go for the fish.

You might enjoy the book Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elizabeth Tova Bailey. It's a beautiful and quiet book about a woman who adopts a snail as a companion when she is ill. You will never look at snails the same way again.

Wow a snail - we dont' get those around here! That is pretty cool! And we love the poem (and love that the reason to climb is because it is there!)

And Charlie, we do agree with you - for eating at least we think fish is a much better choice!

Snails - they're just not right (in so many ways)

Ha! Love your analogy. That window must be Mt. Everest for a snail. How on earth did it get so high?

Good thing Charlie prefers fish. That poor snail would be jostled!

We had a snail that took a fancy to our back door. My cats were about as interested in it as Charlie!
