HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

To all you adorable mums! Me and Charlie salute you!

Today is not only Mothering Sunday but traditionally the time for Simnel Cake! Mine (well the fruit cake) has been soaking in Drambuie since November and should be ready by Easter!! My mama will be most proud!

Speaking of mums: Mamma Maggie over at Love & Hissess has finally given birth to 6 adorable tabby kitties!! She kept us guessing and raised over $500 for Challenger's House - a no kill animal shelter! Hooorah! Yay for Robyn and Fred who are currently fostering mamma Maggie!

Take care y'all!

Ah yes indeed and to think my mother gets to have Mother's day twice in just over a month. Now, I know why she moved to Canada LOL
And that cause over at 'Love & Kisses' for 'Challenger's House', is a noble venture. Congrats to Mamma Maggie :)
Take care eh

Happy Mothering Sunday to all! Our Mother's Day is May in Canada, think in the US too. :-)

Weren't those little ones just too precious? I read the post and saw the pics last night, a lovely way to end the day.

Have a great day!

Hi Old Kitty
Always find today a bit tricky, after losing my mum, nearly five years ago, now - but always up for hearing how a bit of cake is coming along :-) That Drambuie should be nicely embedded in every crumb of yours by now! (In fact, I wouldn't get too near it with a naked flame ...)
Good news about the kittens, and the money raised :-)
Have enjoyed following you around the various A-Z blogs and reading your lovely upbeat comments - thanks for your visits to mine - at risk of sounding schmaltzy, you are an inspiration and example to bloggers everywhere!!
All best
Karla

Your cake traditions sound like so much fun! I'm going to have to look that one up; love the idea of a rum-soaked cake at Easter!

So you gave me a bit of a panic this morning, but it turns out England and the U.S. celebrate Mother's Day in different months, so I'm not a bad daughter. lol. (Good reminder, though, that I need to order flowers and buy cards and whaatnot!)

Happy Mother's Day!

(For a moment I thought oh no, I've missed Mother's Day! But I had forgotten that the UK has Mothering Sunday earlier in the year. :))

Interesting info re: mothering sunday. surely the u.s. version of the holiday must've descended from that - altho they are celebrated at different times. And the pic of simnel cake looks much yummier than pics of fruit cakes (which is much desparaged here in the u.s.). Will your drambouie drenched cake be eaten?

Happy belated Mothering Sunday to all Moms! We celebrate this happy holiday later in May.

Your Simnel cake sounds like it will be fantastic! I'm sure your Mom will enjoy tasting it on Easter.

Congrats to cat momma Maggie on her new kittens :) I am going over to their blog for a peak.

Ohhhh... I am going to pass this one on to my pastor - what a great idea for Lent!

And Robyn's babies are just the cutest, aren't they??? Squeee!!! Didn't win the pool (LOL! - and Lord knows, I tried, with an entry every day until they were born... except with I was in the hospital! Ha!) but Robyn sure scored for Challenger's House!!! Yay!!!
